HERO_LORE (2)
Awesome Power:
So think about this carefully. Imagine your parents believed in the return of an ancient guardian, Immortal. For thousands of years this prophecy warns of a catastrophe that never comes, the birth of a hero who never arrives. Imagine your whole life you watered a stupid tree with a stupid name because your stupid elders were told that this hero is coming. Now imagine after many generations, he finally does. Behold, when that hero popped out of the Heart of the Woods...no one knew what to do. So the Elders of Mokoko Village consulted the ancient texts. They tested the hero, hoping for insight into the coming catastrophe. They did everything to that poor baby ball. They kicked him, torched him, froze him, dropped a comically oversized anvil on him, and resilient he remained, tickled and green. Dread took root in the Elders like a stubborn weed. If this hero was all-powerful, what impossible catastrophe was coming? As Hero grew, he was raised with the overwhelming responsibility of saving the world. But he was...incompetent. His tutors thought he was a mistake. His peers avoided him. And he spent his long, lonely nights gazing at the stars, wishing for a friend. Every year on the beaches of Castle Glass, the Festival of Friends was held. Every year, Hero asked to go. And the Elders would say, "No, not until you become the hero." So as tradition, on the day of the festival, Hero played in the forest alone. Until this last time, when he met a little Doomling he'd never seen before. She wanted to play, so together they played. Unbeknownst to Hero, this was Immortal, the ancient guardian prophesied to return. And when Immortal learned of Hero's plight, she asked him, "What's the point of saving life if you're not allowed to live?" Hero took this as permission to attend the festival. So he sneaked off to the beach. There were flame dancers and treasure hunters and gamemasters and mage makers and...friends. For the first time Hero lived, and the night went long. But when he returned to Mokoko Village, all was fire and ruin. The village was destroyed. The Heart of the Woods, the pillar he was born to protect, was gone.
